Fr Nick Knisely's long quote from an essay by Anne Hunt made me think: I've never actually preached a sermon on Christ's descent into Hell (or "descent among the dead" as the cleaned up version would have it) in all the years of my ministry. I must rectify that before Pentecost.

Dear R.R., Our Rector has preached two, in living memory, on the subject, and both of them were more than helpful to me. One brought about a major turning point in my life. It was delivered on an Easter Sunday that I refer to as "Double-whammy, One-two Punch Easter." He got me at the 10:30 Mass and the Priest Associate polished me off at 6:00 p.m. (I'm in the choir and was required to attend both services since it was Easter.)
